John MacDonald

Scottish-born business and financial journalist and editorial consultant with more than 40 years’ experience in UK, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, MacDonald specialises in writing company annual reports and has produced more than 50 for leading GCC businesses, including banks, telecommunications specialists, real estate developers, and industrial and commercial conglomerates, winning several international awards for the quality of the information presented to shareholders.

MacDonald has also co-authored or edited a series of books, including Driving Arabia (the history of the automobile in the Middle East), Arab Science (the historical Arab/Muslim contribution to scientific advancement), and Guide to Islamic Finance. He is also the Middle East correspondent for Global Radio News and Radio nan Gaidheal (BBC’s Gaelic-language channel), editor of the English edition of the Islamic Arts journal, and co-host of the weekly Talking of Books programme on Dubai Eye FM.

Radio and TV broadcast systems specialist, 
Dave McClure 

Dave is a Glasgow University physics graduate with 40 years’ experience in broadcast engineering, training, consultancy and project management, mainly in the UK and the Middle East. He has published technical and training articles in Line-Up, Broadcast Systems Engineering, Training & Development and ComBroad (the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association).

Dave worked for the BBC for 20-years, in World Service, BBC Scotland, capital projects, engineering training and training management. While in this last role, he gained Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.

After leaving BBC in 1993, he established C-Change Training to produce and conduct training programmes for BBC Management Training, STAR TV Asia, Tektronix and Grass Valley Group. For GVG, he was the EAME product specialist for the Profile range of video file servers. In 2000, as Product Manager for Lightworks Inc., Dave was responsible for all hardware aspects of the Lightworks Touch NLE.

As co-founder and director of TriMedia Middle East, Dave has provided technical, consultancy and project management services to MBC, CNBC Arabiya, Ten Sports, Showtime TV, and Al Jazeera Media Network.

Copywriting and creative ideation specialist, 
Francesca Foley

Francesca Foley is a media specialist, working for nine years in the Gulf region. A graduate of Chelsea College of Art and Design and Southampton Solent University, she is an experienced magazine editor, designer, creative consultant and advertising and creative copywriter. Francesca specialises in creative feature writing, targeted media coverage, creative ideation and direction, social media, design and marketing, and has worked across the media spectrum on behalf of clients and contractors.

Working as both author and head of client servicing and business development, Francesca excels at managing content and production, ensuring the timely delivery of first-class products across the spectrum of the media industry. With her diverse know-how, Francesca brings a lateral perspective to all clients which include Community Jameel, In4ma, Protechtem, ALJ Electronics, DP World, and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) among others.

Having worked for well-recognised magazines and digital publications in the UAE, she has also developed a reputation as a first-class online journalist.
